Architecture
How My Coach is built — the Shell (relationship layer) and the three Pilot modules plugged into it.
The diagram below shows the full product structure in one view. Read it top to bottom: learner at the top, the Shell wrapping everything in the middle, the three Pilot modules inside it, and the platform it runs on at the bottom.

What this diagram shows
The diagram has five layers, read top to bottom.
The Learner
The three primary personas — Alyssa, Deb, Marcus — plus an "any learner" slot. The breadth of that row is deliberate: My Coach is designed for any phone, any pace, any background. The device and connection constraints are built into the baseline, not treated as edge cases.
The Shell — Relationship Layer
This is the heart of the product. The Shell does not teach — it knows the learner, holds their history, and shows up the same way every time. Four capabilities define it: conversational onboarding (no forms), persistent memory (demonstrated every session), a culturally matched 3D avatar (present at key moments, absent otherwise), and re-engagement (picks up after any gap, no guilt).
The three Pilot modules
Numeracy, Reading, and Writing each have their own visual personality and interaction model — but they share the Shell. The connector label between the Shell and the modules says it plainly: the Coach appears before and after every session. Within each module, the avatar's behaviour is deliberate:
- Numeracy: the Coach is completely absent during gameplay. The game is foregrounded. The Coach reappears after to deliver feedback.
- Reading: the Coach listens quietly in the corner while the learner reads — present but not speaking. It speaks after, never during.
- Writing: the Coach appears after the photo is uploaded — delivering feedback as a warm spoken conversation, not a results screen.

Future modules — same Shell, new capabilities
The dashed cards show where the platform goes after the pilot. Because the Shell is a separate layer from the modules, new skill areas plug in without rebuilding the relationship. Oral communication, digital literacy, financial literacy, employability skills — each extends the Coach's reach. The learner does not start over. The Coach already knows them.
The platform layer
The bottom band shows what the product runs on at launch: any smartphone browser, on 3G or Wi-Fi, with no app to install. The faded entries (tablet, kiosk, TV) show Phase 2+ reach — present in the vision, not the pitch.
